The Elder Scrolls Online is a fantasy MMORPG from Zenimax Online Studios and Bethesda Softworks based on the popular Elder Scrolls series. The game takes place during the Age of Heroes, 1,000 years before the events of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, and will feature classic regions of the Tamriel game world, including Morrowind, Daggerfall, and Skyrim. The Elder Scrolls Online will have solo and group questing, public dungeons, guilds, and massive PvP warfare that sets the game's three player factions against one another for control over the region of Cyrodiil and the throne of Tamriel.

One of the reasons I stopped playing ESO is because they're so money grubbing. I was like you and wanted a true B2P game, but there's so much you end up spending money on. Real sub games are cheaper than ESO because you pay $15/ month and every couple years buy one expac and everything you buy is permanent. With ESO you're buying DLC'c every couple months plus expac just to have the content permanently and that's without buying anything off the cash shop in a game built around a cash shop, not to mention the near-necessity of some of the things that the sub offers. They're encroaching on Korean MMO levels of monetary model shittiness without the amazing graphics and combat.

If you want B2P go GW2. They payment model is done really well if that's your primary focus.

The Elder Scrolls Online has 8.5 million players, according to a report from The figure, which was revealed by game director Matt Firor, is based on copies sold, not just registered accounts.

According to MMORPG, The Elder Scrolls Online has 7 million players as of June 2016, so it's added 1.5 million new players in less than a year.

The site reported that Firor said the Elder Scrolls Online player population is split "fairly evenly" among all platforms: PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.

I didn't like the class system, I didn't like the combat, I hated how it felt like a singleplayer game. I was frustrated by the crafting system. I found the questing tedious and not particularly improved by the voice acting. I didn't find the lore or environments interesting or immersive. I never had fun playing.

I never felt that itch to play, whereas substantially less polished or fatally flawed games like Project Gorgon, Archeage, Age of Wushu, and Aion definitely had me hooked. Shame, I wanted to like it. Seems at least some others feel the same way.

This game is dead. Bethesda is fooling themselves when they release a DLC for them in 2016. This used to be the worst flop of the year when they got rid of the subscription in months immediately after release.

Subscription doesn't work anymore unless you're WoW or FF. Heck, even a buy-to-play model doesn't work in the age of free MOBA.
